Colloquialisms

Colloquialisms should not be used for formal writing. Colloquialisms might be found in informal writing that seeks to read like speech but they should be avoided, particularly when the audience is diverse or likely to be from different countries.

Examples of colloquialisms:

• If you stretch the truth, you may fall down at interview
• Don't leave it to the last minute - you'll kick yourself!
